The Royal Moscow Ballet brengt Pjotr Iljitsj Tsjaikovski’s The Sleeping Beauty, het betoverende verhaal van prinses Aurora, beter bekend als Doornroosje. Dit balletsprookje kenmerkt zich door sierlijke choreografie en prachtige arrangementen van Marius Petipa en Anatoly Emelianov.

Anatoly Emelianov, tevens eerste solist van de voorstelling, is een award-winning choreograaf en is geroemd om zijn bijdrage aan de Russische Cultuur.


Het verhaal
In een glorieus koninkrijk wordt iedereen uitgenodigd voor de doop van prinses Aurora, behalve de kwaadaardige fee Carabosse. Boos als ze is, spreekt ze een vloek uit over Aurora. Op haar 16e verjaardag zal zij zich prikken aan een spinnen-wiel en sterven. De goede fee Lilac Fairy weet de vloek te doorbreken, Aurora zal niet sterven maar 100 jaar in slaap vallen. Ze kan alleen wakker gekust worden door een knappe prins…
