A performance you walk through – available in 6 languages!
On Saturday the 19th and Sunday, the 20th of September, you can experience theatre in a completely different way at De Schalm. No seats, no fixed places — just a journey through a magical world.
In small groups, you will walk through the theatre and follow Yuto’s story via headphones.
You choose your own language: Dutch, English, Turkish, or Polish.
The story
Yuto receives a mysterious little box from an old man.
“Everything you need is in here,” says the man.
But the box remains closed.
Until Yuto – just before his seventh birthday – dreams of the man… and the box suddenly opens.
Inside, he finds a heart-shaped seed.
He plants it in the ground.
The boy and the tree grow up together — and a special friendship develops that touches your heart.
Yuto and the Tree is about following your heart, growing up and knowing when it’s time to let go.
Theatre you can truly experience
You walk through a magical labyrinth of sets, puppetry, shadows and moving drawings. Through your headphones, you hear the story — intimate and close, as if it were being told especially for you. Based on the picture book 'Ik geef je mijn hart' by Pimm van Hest and Sassafras de Bruyn.
The performance explores the cycle of life in a very atmospheric way. This makes it suitable for young and old. The recommended age for children is 6+.
