Governance Code 

Theater de Schalm subscribes to the Culture Governance Code. The organisation's governance model is the supervisory board model. The Governance Code Culture provides a normative framework for good governance and supervision in cultural organisations. It shows the responsible director and supervisors to the outside world what the usual standards are for good governance in the cultural sector.

The Supervisory Board receives no remuneration for its activities.

Profile of the Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board is composed in such a way that:

  • there is sufficient affinity with theatre and the objective of the foundation in particular;
    a broad social connection and a functional network are achieved;
  • there is a sufficient spread in terms of social backgrounds, expertise and disciplines, such as financial-economic, artistic, commercial and business backgrounds;
  • the members of the Supervisory Board operate independently and critically with regard to each other and the management;
  • an adequate sounding board function is provided for the Management Board.

The profile for a member of the Supervisory Board includes at least the following aspects:

  • general managerial qualities and experience;
  • a proper balance between involvement and administrative distance;
  • the ability to assess the policy of the foundation and the functioning of the management;
  • the ability to form a general opinion on matters submitted by the management.

    A balanced composition in age and gender is sought.
