The main character in Solitudes feels misunderstood. Like many elderly people, for whom life seems more and more like waiting, he focuses on the small, simple things. But these are invaluable to him - something his surroundings do not seem to understand. The extraordinary thing about his story is that, despite the lack of stimuli, he does not resign himself to his fate. On the contrary, he clings to his petty desires and fights for them with a touching determination and dignity. This has inevitable consequences - for himself and for those around him.
