In 2026, it will be 25 years since the French superstar Gilbert Bécaud passed away. What’s more, he would have turned 100 in 2027. If that isn’t a reason to celebrate his chansons! They are so rich, so powerful, so timeless.

Nathalie; of course! Et maintenant; but yessssssss! L’important c’est la rose, C’est en septembre, Je reviens te chercher… Bécaud, ‘Monsieur 100,000 Volts’, sang these songs with boundless energy. His passion for women, cigarettes and whisky was legendary.

Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, Marlène Dietrich; they have all sung Bécaud. And now Frank Cools and Florian De Schepper too; they opt for the purest form. With just a voice and a guitar, BÉCAUD, just like their acclaimed theatre concert AZNAVOUR, promises an evening full of beauty, recognition and surprise.

The Flemish artist Frank Cools has appeared as an actor and singer in almost every theatre in Flanders and the Netherlands. He has sung both chanson and sentimental ballads, created many shows for young audiences, and often performed solo on stage as an actor with classical texts. With few resources, he manages to get to the heart of the matter.

Florian De Schepper is a classical guitarist, but sees himself more as a chameleon; a travelling troubadour who can swing through folk and various styles like no other.

'Moving and often funny stories, but above all: wonderfully, even masterfully sung songs that everyone can hum along to. If you get the chance to see this, don’t miss it!'
