Rabobank organised Rabo ClubSupport again in 2025, and we took part.

A total of €539.82 was raised for Theater de Schalm to improve accessibility for wheelchair users.

We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and/or supported us during the Rabobank campaign! 

Our goal

Theater de Schalm has two auditoriums, the Main Auditorium and the Lindenzaal. Both auditoriums have a limited number of seats available for wheelchair users. In the Main Hall, with a total capacity of 460 seats, there are 4 wheelchair spaces. In the Lindenzaal, with a total capacity of 180 seats, there are 2 wheelchair spaces. It often happens that there are no wheelchair spaces available, even though there are people who would like to use them.

Theater de Schalm has been committed to broad accessibility for several years. The theatre wants everyone to be able to attend a performance, regardless of any barriers they may experience. For this reason, De Schalm has already developed various options for deaf, hard of hearing, visually impaired, blind and sensory-sensitive people. De Schalm also offers a broad international programme that is easy to follow for those who do not speak Dutch.   

To accommodate wheelchair users, De Schalm wants to organise two theatre afternoons in the second half of the 2025/2026 theatre season, during which the auditorium will be specifically arranged for a large number of wheelchair users. These performances will take place in the Lindenzaal on a Sunday afternoon, with the stands retracted. This will create space for approximately 40 wheelchair users and 40 accompanying persons.   

With the financial contribution from Rabo ClubSupport, Theater de Schalm can more easily make these performances possible and focus on creating a wonderful programme for these theatre afternoons.
