Sign language interpreter and hearing support

Sign language interpreter
Some performances are offered with a sign language interpreter. This allows visitors with hearing impairments to enjoy an evening at the theatre too. For these performances, we have reserved seats in the auditorium from which the sign language interpreter can be clearly seen. Please email us at reserveringen@deschalm.com if you would like to make use of this service, as these seats cannot be booked online.

Do you have difficulties with hearing hearing or are you deaf and interested in attending a particular performance?
Please get in touch via reserveringen@deschalm.com. We’ll then look at the options together.

Hearing support
For many people who have difficulties with hearing, attending a theatre performance is not something they can take for granted. We have a new hearing support system to make your theatre experience as enjoyable as possible.

Theater de Schalm is equipped with Audio Technica 3000 series (ATW-R3250) sound amplification equipment. At the theatre box office, you can let us know that you’d like to use our hearing support system, and you’ll be given a receiver with a neckband headset or ear hooks. You can also use your own headphones, if they have a mini-jack connection. The ear hooks can be connected to your hearing aid, if it has a T-coil setting. There are separate receivers for the Main Auditorium and the Lindenzaal.

At the collection point (theatre box office), you will be shown how to adjust the volume and you can test the equipment briefly before entering the auditorium. You do not need to book this equipment in advance.

You can use the equipment free of charge. After the performance, please return the equipment to the cloakroom.
