Aladdin is a brave young man with a big heart. But he’s also a bit unlucky… No matter how hard he tries, he gets sacked from every market stall. And yet there’s only one thing he wants: to make sure that no one in the village ever goes hungry again. But how can you look after the people around you when you can’t even hold down a job to look after yourself? Fortunately, the market trader recognises Aladdin for the good lad he is and takes him under his wing.
When his clumsy elephant friend Boeboe accidentally knocks over a stall, they stumble upon a book about the magical Cave of Wonders. A hidden place deep in the desert, where all your dreams can come true. Whilst fantasising about this magical place and dreaming of adventure, Aladdin suddenly finds himself gazing deep into the eyes of the beautiful Princess Layla. He falls in love at first sight. And this whilst Princess Layla is on her way to announce her engagement to Prince Rashid, whom she doesn’t actually like at all. Secretly, she’s much more taken with Aladdin! But her mother, the Sultana, isn’t at all keen on the idea of her daughter running off with a poor ragged lad.
After their meeting, Aladdin has just one wish: to be with the princess forever. And so, together with his little elephant Boeboe, he sets off for the magical cave to make his dreams come true. When the cave reveals itself to Aladdin, it turns out to be full of treasures. But as soon as Aladdin touches the gold, the entrance collapses and he finds himself trapped! In an attempt to escape, he finds a magic lamp, from which two genies suddenly emerge. This hilarious duo grants him four wishes. But they cannot simply fulfil his greatest wish – the love of Princess Layla – because, of course, you cannot force feelings.
Together, they come up with a plan: Aladdin must become a prince! With the help of his mate Boeboe and the witty duo, he takes on the challenge. Will they manage to turn the street urchin into a real prince?
